CCANB Public Lectures / Talks series - October 6, 2019
Speaker: Ms. Li Wang
We are beyond thrilled for the incredible turn out at our latest Speaker Series presentation this past Sunday, October 6, and we would like to give a huge shout out to everyone who attended.
It was an absolute pleasure to have our featured speaker Ms. Li Wang give a presentation on the differences of social and cultural etiquette between China and Canada for our members.
An avid advocate of multiculturalism and a resident of Canada for over 30 years, Ms. Wang is also an experienced educator and an active community volunteer. Her presentation focused on a number of topics including identifying key differences in the day-to-day etiquette between Chinese and Canadian cultures, and the importance of understanding and adopting Canadian etiquette for newcomers.
Ms. Wang also gave real life examples of social etiquette in particular social situations such as gifting, table manners and different communication situations.
The storytelling style of the presentation and the integration-focused approach kept the audience engaged from start to finish. People were lining up to talk to Ms. Wang after her presentation.
Not only was Ms. Wang impressed by the quality and number of questions she got, we were equally impressed to see the discussions around the room long after the presentation has ended... all the signs of a successful event!
