“Home Maintenance Essentials”

The New Brunswick real estate market has seen unprecedented growth in the past year, with a large part of that growth coming from newcomer families. While it's encouraging to see so many immigrants put down their roots here in the province, property maintenance is a growing concern for these new owners. This is due to a number of reasons, including a lack of knowledge in basic home maintenance, as well as a lack of resources. Cases of decreased property values due to poor maintenance have gained a lot of attention recently in the community. For this reason, the CCANB held a presentation on home maintenance for newcomers this past Sunday.

The featured speakers were Mr. Jianmin Kou and Mr. Guoquan Qu, well known in the Chinese community for their expertise and experience in home maintenance. They gave an introduction to building materials (flooring and wall materials, as well as how to treat them), insulation technology in residential projects, how to identify and deal with ineffective insulation, property lines, piping, and roofing.

The audience had a lot of questions for Jianmin and Guoquan, who graciously answered each and every one, drawing examples from their own experience. The CCANB was delighted to see the level of engagement by the participants and discussion during the Q&A.
