How to make a homemade cloth mask with a filter pocket - instructions

Descriptions: Mask is fitted, with 2 layers of fabric (outer and inner layer) and a pocket between them for an optional filter. It is held on by hair ties or elastic.

Materials

  • PATTERN - Print the actual sized pattern by downloading from the following link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TvWGzetCt3OV5brd7hmenGc4D5Zlz-fc/view?usp=drivesdk
  • 100% cotton fabric: you will need 2 for outer layers & 2 for inner layers
  • One (1) piece nose bridge: flat aluminum nose bridge (9 or 10 cm)
  • Two (2) elastic hair ties or elastic
  • Filter: Use a filter using coffee filter or any store-bought mask gaskets

Steps to make

  1. Download paper pattern & make adjustment if needed

  2. Prepare materials

    This example uses a 10cm wire & hair ties

  3. For each layer, sew 2 pcs from the round center line first, then fold the bottom edges and sew up

  4. Sew the top lines (inner &outer) together & turn to outer layer

  5. Sew the outer top line, leave the space for wire (nose bridge)

  6. Sew a wire stop 5 cm from the center

  7. Insert nose bridge

  8. Sew hair ties / elastic
